Chelsea Under-18s are into the fifth round of this season’s FA Youth Cup after defeating Bradford City 5-0 at The EBB Stadium in Aldershot this evening.
Two early goals for The Blues set the tone for what was an easy victory for Ed Brand’s in-form side.
Chelsea nearly suffered a shock early on when keeper Jake Askew parried Daniel Francis’ effort but the Bradford City player made a hash of the rebound.
The Bantams were soon made to rue that missed opportunity when Armando Broja struck the opener from close range after getting on the end of Valentino Livramento’s cross.
Broja was heavily involved in Chelsea’s second goal when he took advantage of an error from the visitors, allowing teammate Marcel Lewis to score one of the scrappiest goals you’ll ever see.
Lewis was unlucky not to double his tally shortly after the half-time interval when he saw an effort saved at the near post before Henry Lawrence’s powerful effort flew into the Bradford City net as Chelsea took a three-goal lead.
A fourth goal soon arrived with Lewis firing home via the post before second half substitute Thierno Ballo scored The Blues’ fifth with a strike that took a wicked deflection on the way to the back of the net.
Broja missed a good opportunity to make it 6-0 late on when he drove an effort into the side-netting but it didn’t matter with Chelsea cruising into the fifth round.
