Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea meet for just the 14th time in history on New Year’s Day with the pair set to go head-to-head in the English Premier League at the Amex Stadium.
Chelsea have won 11 of the previous 13 meetings while it has been the best part of 90 years since Brighton & Hove Albion have beaten The Blues.

16 December 2018 – Brighton & Hove Albion 1 Chelsea 2 (English Premier League)
Chelsea kept up their bid for UEFA Champions League qualification with a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.
Eden Hazard set up Pedro to tap home a 17th-minute opener before the Belgian fired in to give The Blues a 2-0 half-time lead after Willian had won possession following some sloppy play from the home side.
Solly March pulled a goal back midway through the second half, striking the ball beyond Blues keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from close range but it wasn’t enough as Chelsea collected an important three points.
3 April 2019 – Chelsea 3 Brighton & Hove Albion 0 (English Premier League)
Chelsea recorded their 10th straight victory over Brighton & Hove Albion by beating The Seagulls 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Olivier Giroud fired Maurizio Sarri’s side ahead just before the break when he directed Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross into the net.
Eden Hazard’s curling strike made it 2-0 on the hour before a stunning long range effort from Ruben Loftus-Cheek capped-off a fine display from The Blues.
The result left Chelsea in fifth with with six games remaining.
28 September 2019 – Chelsea 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 0 (English Premier League)
Chelsea’s rocky start to the season was ended by a 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge.
The visitors defended resolutely for 50 minutes until Mason Mount was fouled by Adam Webster in the box and Jorginho successfully dispatched the penalty kick.
Dan Burn saw a header hit the bar for Albion before Willian’s deflected effort made sure of Chelsea’s victory as they jumped up to sixth in the English Premier League table.
