Chelsea FC Women have completed their second signing for January with the club having acquired the services of Scotland international winger Jamie-Lee Napier.
The 19-year-old joins The Blues as a free agent after agreeing to leave former side Hibernian by mutual consent earlier this week.
The teenager has signed a contract at Kingsmeadow until summer 2021 and she will join the squad when they report for training following the upcoming mid-season break.
Napier has starred for Hibernian both in the Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 and the UEFA Women’s Champions League this season. The youngster was crowned the Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 Player of the Year, beating off some tough competition for the award.
Whilst Napier is most commonly utilised as a winger, she is adaptable and Chelsea manager Emma Hayes could consider playing the Scot in one of the full-back positions as another option.
Napier will join fellow new arrival Sam Kerr at Kingsmeadow after the festive break. The 26-year-old Australian international recently agreed a move to Chelsea, in-turn becoming one of the biggest-ever transfer deals which the FA Women’s Super League has seen.
Both players could be in-line to make their debuts for The Blues when they take on Reading at Kingsmeadow on 5 January 2020.
