Chelsea Under-18s have continued their assault on the Under-18 Premier League South title with a thumping 8-0 victory over bottom club Swansea City in South Wales this morning.
George Nunn’s goal gave Chelsea a first half lead before they netted seven more in a stunning second half display.
The Blues were ahead after just five minutes at the Landore Training Ground courtesy of Nunn’s strike but the hosts held firm for the remainder of the half, leaving Chelsea with a slender advantage.
There seemed to be little to separate the two sides but the floodgates opened three minutes after the interval. First, Myles Peart-Harris notched his first goal of the afternoon before Joe Haigh made it 3-0 four minutes later. The lively Peart-Harris then added his second goal of the game before Haigh scored Chelsea’s fifth 11 minutes from time.
The goals kept coming in the last 10 minutes. Dion Rankine got his name on the scoresheet as Chelsea went 6-0 up before Haigh completed an exceptional afternoon for him personally with his third goal. Lewis Bate completed the scoring from the penalty spot in the 88th minute as The Blues completed an excellent 90 minutes’ work.
Ed Brand’s side return to action on Wednesday 18 December when they face Huddersfield Town at Kingsmeadow in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.
