Chelsea have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Under-18 Premier League Cup with a perfect record after beating Arsenal 2-1 at Cobham this morning.

Predator Armando Broja was on the scoresheet for The Blues while there was also a first goal for the Under-18s for Sam Iling Jr.

It took just 16 minutes for Chelsea to take the lead in Surrey. Lewis Bate played in teammate Broja and the forward thumped the ball beyond Hubert Graczyk in the visitors’ goal.

Broja had opportunities to add to both his and Chelsea’s goal tally but failed to convert a couple of good chances before Ethan Wady denied Joel Lopez at the other end.

Ed Brand’s side finally doubled their lead just before the break. Illing Jr capitalised on some really sloppy Arsenal play to gain possession of the ball and thump the ball high into the net.

Broja was again denied by Graczyk shortly after half-time before Lopez threatened for the visitors for the second time in the game only to see Wady save his effort.

Arsenal played some of their best football during the final half-hour and they grabbed a lifeline with 12 minutes left to play. Matt Dennis supplied Daniel Oyegoke and the midfielder slotted the ball beyond Wady from a narrow angle.

The Gunners piled on the pressure but Chelsea hung to to end their Under-18 Premier League Cup campaign with three wins out of three.
