Chelsea FC Women defender Jonna Andersson has signed a contract extension with The Blues according to the club’s official website.

The 26-year-old Swedish international has agreed to remain with the South West Londoners until summer 2022.

Andersson joined Chelsea in 2018 from Swedish club Linkopings in 2018 and the defender has since established herself as a key first team player at Kingsmeadow. In her first six months with The Blues, Andersson lifted the FA Women’s Super League title as well as the SSE Women’s FA Cup while this season has seen the Swede feature in every single game for manager Emma Hayes.

After coming through the youth ranks at Swedish side Mjolby AI FF, Andersson joined Linkopings in 2009 and she spent the best part of a decade with the Damallsvenskan outfit. The player won the league title and the Swedish Cup during her time with LFC while she gained her first taste of UEFA Women’s Champions League football.

Andersson is experienced at international level. The player was a member of the Sweden squad which finished with the Bronze Medal at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 last summer. The full-back was not selected to feature against England in the Bronze Medal match but has started each of Sweden’s last three matches.
