Second half goals from Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic helped Chelsea record a routine 2-0 victory over London rivals Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

The Blues initially found it tough going against a Crystal Palace side who were happy to break up the play but they eventually made the breakthrough in the second period as they claimed a sixth straight league win.

Chelsea started strongly and Pulisic drew a save from visiting keeper Vicente Guaita before a thumping shot from Willian grazed the crossbar.

To their credit, the visitors protected their goal well and restricted Frank Lampard’s men to half chances throughout the remainder of the half.

The Blues made the breakthrough early in the second half when Willian’s clever back-heel left teammate Abraham with a tap in.

Visiting keeper Guaita then somehow clawed a Pulisic effort out of the top corner before an Emerson Palmieri strike clipped the back post.

Chelsea made sure of their victory late on when second half substitute Michy Batshuayi’s shot deflected into the path of American midfielder Pulisic who headed home.

The result leaves The Blues temporarily five points behind English Premier League leaders Liverpool who have played one game less than Frank Lampard’s side.
