Chelsea Under-18s continue to fly high in the Under-18 Premier League South after beating Tottenham Hotspur 5-3 in North London this lunchtime.
All of The Blues’ goals came in the first half as they made easy work of their London rivals at Hotspur Way.
Ed Brand’s side took the lead after just two minutes when they were awarded a penalty kick. Midfielder Lewis Bate stepped up to take the spot kick, beating home keeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala from 12 yards.
Bate turned provider 14 minutes later when he created the opportunity for Joe Haigh to score before Dermi Lusala’s unfortunate own goal gave Chelsea a 3-0 lead with just 20 minutes on the clock.
Xavier Simons then added a fourth five minutes later when he was played in by Blues captain Dynel Simeu before the prolific Armando Broja’s strike made it 5-0.
Despite the first half bombardment, Tottenham Hotspur came out much brighter for the second half, although the game was effectively over as a contest. Tarrelle Whittaker pulled two goals back for the hosts while Harvey White netted a late penalty kick as Spurs took a little more respect from the final 5-3 scoreline.
Chelsea are back in action in a fortnight’s time when they welcome Arsenal to Cobham in the Under-18 Premier League South.
