Chelsea will be hoping to avoid a potential banana skin when London rivals Crystal Palace are the visitors to Stamford Bridge for the English Premier League’s lunchtime kick-off.
The Eagles have already won at Manchester United and drawn at Arsenal so far this season so their threat cannot be taken lightly by the in-form Blues.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard could welcome midfielder N’Golo Kante back to his starting XI with the Frenchman now having gained full fitness after being plagued by injury. The Blues do have something of a midfield crisis with Jorginho suspended and Ross Barkley out injured. Mason Mount faces a late fitness test with the player battling an ankle injury.
Crystal Palace defender Gary Cahill is in-line to face his former club after recovering from a head injury while Senegalese midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate could also return. Forward Andros Townsend has recovered from a muscle strain and has been declared fit to play.
Chelsea’s recent record against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League is a good one. They have beaten The Eagles on each of the last three occasions which they have met.
This afternoon’s fixture is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm and will be screened live on BT Sport 1.
