Chelsea have recorded a fifth straight win in the English Premier League by beating Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road this evening.

Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic got the goals as The Blues held their nerve to defeat the division’s bottom club.

Chelsea got off to the perfect start, taking the lead inside five minutes. Jorginho found teammate Abraham who produced a sublime finish as he beat Ben Foster in the Watford goal.

There were to be no more goals in the first half but both sides struck the woodwork just before half-time. First, Gerard Deulofeu saw an effort skim the post before a Mason Mount thunderbolt cannoned off the crossbar.

Mount was again the biggest threat early in the second half but Foster won the personal battle and saved his goal-bound effort.

Frank Lampard’s men doubled their lead 10 minutes into the half when Abraham squared the ball for Pulisic who tapped home.

Watford were then handed a lifeline when Jorginho caught Deulofeu in the area and the same player stepped up to dispatch the penalty kick.

Blues boss Lampard brought on Michy Batshuayi and Reece James and he looked to run down the clock and that tactic worked as Chelsea held on.

The South West Londoners are back in action on Tuesday evening when Ajax are the visitors to Stamford Bridge in the UEFA Champions League.
