Beth England added another two goals to her tally as Chelsea won 3-0 at Crystal Palace in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup this afternoon.
The England international’s brace came early in the second half while Drew Spence was also on-target for Emma Hayes side.
Chelsea went close to opening the scoring early on but Ramona Bachmann’s strike was blocked on the line by Nicole Pepper.
Lucy Gillett did well to deny Erin Cuthbert just before the half-hour mark while Spence and England also failed to break the deadlock during the opening 45 minutes.
England should have netted the opener five minutes into the second half but she could only head over from a Cuthbert cross. That missed opportunity wasn’t to be decisive with Chelsea scoring from their next attack. Karen Mjelde hit the ball across the box and England was on-hand to tap it home.
Four minutes later, it was 2-0 with England on the scoresheet again. Cuthbert curled in a free-kick and the forward headed the ball beyond Gillett into the net.
Spence capped-off the victory for The Blues 14 minutes from time when England teed her up in the box and the player smashed the ball into the corner of the Crystal Palace goal.
Chelsea return to action next Sunday when they face West Ham United at Rush Green in the FA Women’s Super League.
