Chelsea will be hoping to make it five wins out of five in all competitions when they take on Newcastle United in the English Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues will have been disappointed at the timing of the international break but the opportunity now returns for them to kick-on in their quest for UEFA Champions League qualification.
Chelsea will be without at least five first team players for the visit of The Magpies. Andreas Christensen and N’Golo Kante have both returned from international duty with injuries while Ruben Loftus-Cheek continues to by sidelined with his long-term issue. Antonio Rudiger is battling an ongoing groin problem while Saturday’s fixture will come too soon for recovering full-back Emerson Palmieri.
Newcastle United make the trip to South West London without defender Isaac Hayden who is suspended. The Magpies forward Matt Ritchie has an ankle injury and is also missing. Manager Steve Bruce could name the same XI which defeated Manchester United at St James’ Park last time out.
Chelsea should be wary of the threat of their latest opponents. Both of Newcastle United’s victories so far this season have come against sides who could be in the reckoning for the top four places in Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 3pm on Saturday afternoon and has not been selected for live television coverage.
