Chelsea are looking to record a fourth consecutive victory in league and cup when they travel to St Mary’s to face Southampton in the English Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues hammered Grimsby Town 7-1 in the Carabao Cup before seeing off Brighton & Hove Albion in the league at Stamford Bridge last weekend. They also recorded an impressive victory over Lille in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl could offer goalkeeper Alex McCarthy a recall with the player having recovered from a muscle strain. Defender Cedric Shares and wideman Moussa Djenepo remain sidelined and will be unavailable to face the South West Londoners.

Chelsea continue their hectic run of fixtures without Antonio Rudiger, Emerson Palmieri and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who are no nearer making their respective returns from long-term injuries. The fitness of N’Golo Kante is also a concern for Blues boss Frank Lampard with the Frenchman being eased back into action following a knee injury which has disrupted his first team involvement since the end of last season.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon and has been selected for live television coverage on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels.
