Chelsea will hope to get their first points on the board in this season’s UEFA Champions League when they travel to France to take on Lille on Wednesday evening.

The Blues were defeated 1-0 by Spanish club Valencia in their first group match at Stamford Bridge and Frank Lampard’s side must improve in their second fixture at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The home side go into the match unbeaten since their 3-0 defeat to Ajax a fortnight ago. Lille’s only injury concern is striker Timothy Weah who recently pulled a muscle and could be assessed before manager Christophe Galtier names his starting XI.

Chelsea travel to France without injured trio Antonio Rudiger, Emerson Palmieri and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who are no nearer returning to action. Midfielder N’Golo Kante is recovering from a hamstring problem and could feature. Kurt Zouma and Olivier Giroud could also be named in the matchday squad.

Lille and Chelsea have never met in a competitive fixture. Wednesday night will see The Blues play in France for the first time since the 2015/2016 campaign when Paris Saint-Germain defeated them 4-2 on aggregate at the last-16 stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 8pm and will be screened live on BT Sport 2.
