Chelsea Under-18s made it four wins out of four this season with a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa Under-18s at Cobham this morning.

Ed Brand’s side have been in sparkling form so far this season and the winning run continued with victory over Aston Villa, a side which have caused The Blues problems at this age group in recent seasons.

A competitive start produced few goalscoring opportunities with the linesman’s flag dominating the proceedings. When Chelsea remained onside the goal arrived with Armando Broja slotting the ball beyond visiting keeper Akos Onodi inside the area.

Aaron Ramsey should have equalised moments later but his tame effort was cleared to safety by Levi Colwill following an error from Blues keeper Jake Askew.

Chelsea went close to scoring a second goal in the 25th minute but Valentino Livramento’s shot was cleared by a combination of Onodi and Mo Sylla before substitute Xavier Simons saw an effort blocked.

Both sides had chances to score early in the second half. First, Dion Rankine was denied a second goal for Chelsea before Kaine Kesler’s vicious strike was superbly saved by Askew at the other end.

Rankine then rattled the post with a shot across goal before Simons twice struck efforts wide and Broja forced an impressive save from Onodi.

Simons had one further chance to score late on but was denied by Onodi before Aaron Pressley wasted a superb chance for the visitors at the death as Chelsea defended their 1-0 lead to claim three points.

Brand’s side return to action on 14 September when they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Under-18 Premier League.
