Chelsea will face three potentially tricky opponents in the group stage of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
The draw was made in Monaco last night with Chelsea being handed a tough group on their return to the competition.
It has been revealed that The Blues will take on Dutch club Ajax, Spanish giants Valencia and French side Lille in Group H. The group looks to contain few weaknesses and Frank Lampard’s side will need to be at their very best in all six matches.
Chelsea start their campaign against Valencia at Stamford Bridge on 17 September before travelling to France to face Lille on 2 October. The Blues will travel to the Johan Cruyff Arena to take on Ajax three weeks later before the Dutch side fly to London for the return fixture on 5 November. The 27 November sees Chelsea take on Valencia in Spain before they complete their group fixtures against Lille at The Bridge on 10 December.
Joe Edwards’ Under-19s will compete in this season’s UEFA Youth League. Chelsea will play the same opponents as the senior side in a mirrored format of the men’s group stage. The Young Blues will stage all of their home fixtures at the club’s Cobham training ground.
Full ticket details for the senior group fixtures will be announced in due course.
