Chelsea duo Dujon Sterling and Conor Gallagher have been sent out on loan to gain first team playing experience.
The pair are highly-rated by The Blues but are in need of some regular game time to help them push to break into the first team picture at Stamford Bridge.
On Thursday, official Chelsea media sources confirmed that defender Sterling has joined Sky Bet Championship club Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan deal. The full-back enjoyed a successful loan spell with Coventry City last season and will be keen to make his mark at the next level with The Latics.
Sterling has twice represented parent club Chelsea at first team level while he has won a whole host of youth honours with The Blues. The defender has been involved with England at various levels up to Under-20 level and is being tipped for a big future in the game.
The Blues have also reported that Conor Gallagher has left the club on loan. The 19-year-old Islington-born midfielder has been involved in some of the first team’s pre-season programme but it has been revealed that the player will spend the upcoming campaign with newly-promoted Sky Bet Championship club Charlton Athletic.
Gallagher has extended his Chelsea contract until 2022 prior to agreeing the loan move.
Wigan Athletic host Cardiff City and Charlton Athletic travel to Blackburn Rovers for their opening Sky Bet Championship matches of the new season with both players set to be involved for their respective loan clubs.
