Two Chelsea youngsters have left the club on season-long loan deals during the last 48 hours.

The Blues have already sent several players out on loan this summer and the pool of loanees has grown this week.

On Wednesday, the club announced the departure of defender Jake Clarke-Salter who has joined Sky Bet Championship club Birmingham City on loan for the entire 2019/2020 season. The youngster enjoyed a successful season-long loan with Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem last season and he has signed a new three year deal with Chelsea this summer.

Clarke-Salter has made just two senior appearances for The Blues to date with his last outing coming early in the 2017/2018 campaign in an EFL Cup tie.

The Blues have also revealed that midfielder Lewis Baker has left the club on loan. The 24-year-old has joined Bundesliga club Fortuna Dusseldorf for the upcoming season. Baker was tipped for the top when he emerged from the Chelsea academy system but he has appeared for the South West Londoners just once at senior level.

The midfielder has been regularly sent out on loan in recent years and German club Fortuna Dusseldorf will be his seventh different temporary side in his six-year senior career. He will play in Germany for the first time this season.
