Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has signed a new five-year contract with the English Premier League club according to reports by The Blues’ official website.
The 20-year-old Portsmouth-born midfielder has been on the books at Stamford Bridge for the last 14 years and while Mount is yet to make a first team appearance for The Blues, he is rated very highly by the South West Londoners.
Mount spent last season working under new Blues boss Frank Lampard at Derby County in a season-long loan stay at Pride Park and the Chelsea legend has made the decision to offer the youngster a five-year contract with his parent club.
The midfielder has won two FA Youth Cups during his time in the Chelsea academy system while he was a UEFA Youth League winner with the club in 2015/2016. Mount has appeared for The Blues in the EFL Trophy but is yet to make the step up to senior level.
Mount has been training with the first team throughout pre-season and he travelled with them on their Dublin tour. The player was on the scoresheet for Chelsea in their 4-0 victory at over St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park on Saturday.
It is understood that Mount will again be involved in the club’s tour of Japan later this week.
