Chelsea full-back Ola Aina will join Torino on a permanent deal with the Italian club making the decision to take up an option on the player following a successful spell in Italy last season.

The 22-year-old Southwark-born defender spent the whole of last season on loan at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and he made 32 appearances for the club in which he scored one goal.

Chelsea’s official media sources have confirmed that Aina has agreed to join Torino on a permanent basis with the Italian club impressed with what he produced for them whilst on loan last season. No official transfer fee has been mentioned, although it has been suggested that Aina may have been valued at around £9 million.

Aina joined Chelsea as an Under-11 player and he successfully went on to graduate through the various age groups during his time in South West London. After appearing regularly for the club’s Under-18 side and Development Squad, Aina was handed his senior debut for The Blues in August 2016 as they went on to defeat Bristol Rovers 3-2 in the Carabao Cup. The player has been given five further first team outings during the 2016/2017 campaign.

Ahead of the following season, Aina was sent to Sky Bet Championship club Hull City for a season-loan loan spell where he impressed. The defender’s return to Stamford Bridge at the end of that spell was brief with Aina then moving to Torino, initially on loan.

It is hoped that Aina’s move to Torino will now provide him with some long term stability whilst offering him an opportunity to push for a place in the Nigerian national side.
