Chelsea will travel to Salzburg in July to take on Austrian Bundesliga champions RB Salzburg in a pre-season friendly fixture the club have announced.

The Blues will not only be using pre-season to prepare for a renewed title challenge in the English Premier League, they will also be putting the wheels in motion for their return to the UEFA Champions League following a one-season absence.

Chelsea have revealed their third pre-season friendly and it is the most accessible one for their fans to attend of those announced to date. The Blues will travel to Austria to take on RB Salzburg, just a two hour flight across Europe compared to 12-hour trips for their other two friendly outings.

The Blues will visit the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday 31 July with a kick-off time and ticket details yet to be agreed.

That match comes a week after Chelsea complete a pre-season tour of Japan which will see them take on Japanese J.League champions Kawasaki Frontale in the MEIJI YASUDA J.LEAGUE WORLD CHALLENGE and Spanish giants FC Barcelona in the Rakuten Cup.

Maurizio Sarri’s men face Kawasaki Frontale at the International Stadium in Yokohama on Friday 19 July before taking on FC Barcelona at the Saitama Stadium on Tuesday 23 July.
