Chelsea have ended the season in third place in the English Premier League table after battling out a goalless draw with Leicester City at The King Power Stadium.

Elsewhere, fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur could only manage a 2-2 home draw with Everton meaning that The Blues needed just the one point to maintain third position.

Ross Barkley, Willian and Pedro all worked home keeper Kasper Schmeichel early on while Ben Chilwell’s effort from range was the closest which Leicester City came to breaking the deadlock.

Jamie Vardy had a half-chance to score late on in the first half but the striker could only direct a header straight at Blues keeper Willy Caballero.

The second half became a typical end of season dead rubber affair with neither side really playing their best attacking football. Both keepers were largely spectators throughout as Leicester City and Chelsea seemed content with a point.

An effort from midfielder Barkley which came from outside of the box was the only time which either goalkeeper was troubled in the second period as the game ended goalless.

Chelsea end the campaign with 72 points from 38 games, their best points tally since they last won the English Premier League title in 2016/2017.
