Chelsea are just 90 minutes away from reaching the final of this season’s UEFA Europa League after recording a positive 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in the away leg of their semi-final tie.

Luka Jovic fired the home side ahead but Pedro’s fine finish gave The Blues an away goal as well as a first leg draw in Germany.

The Bundesliga side held the greatest attacking threat early on and they took the lead 23 minutes in when Filip Kostic’s ball into the box was headed into the net by Jovic.

Chelsea responded well and both Pedro and Ruben Loftus-Cheek went close to scoring before the former did net an equaliser just before the break with a fine effort from just outside the box.

The second half saw Loftus-Cheek strike an effort narrowly over the bar before Willian tested home keeper Kevin Trapp with a shot from inside the area. David Luiz then threatened the opposition goal with an effort from range before Loftus-Cheek struck a shot straight at Trapp.

The biggest chance in the final stages of the match saw the ball fall for David Luiz in the area but he was unable to trouble Trapp with what was a tame header.

The game ended 1-1 with Chelsea now in an excellent position to qualify following the second leg next week.
