Chelsea will be hoping to keep their European dreams alive when they face German club Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their semi-final tie at the Commerzbank-Arena on Thursday evening.
Maurizio Sarri’s side are now one of the favourites to lift the trophy but their latest challenge will not be an easy one with Eintracht Frankfurt currently in fourth position in the German Bundesliga.
The home side will be without the services of Croatian forward Ante Rebic who is set to serve a ban while former French Under-21 international frontman Sebastien Haller is sidelined with injury.
Defender Evan N’Dicka could return to the squad after serving his recent suspension while Serbian midfielder Mijat Gacinovic has been declared fit to play after recovering from a stomach problem.
Chelsea travel to Germany without veteran defender Gary Cahill who is nursing an Achilles injury while Antonio Rudiger continues to be sidelined following surgery on his knee. Willian has shaken off a knock and could start while Blues boss Sarri will choose whether to field star man Eden Hazard with some crucial games in the English Premier League on the horizon.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 8pm and will be screened live on BT Sport 3.
