Chelsea continue their quest for UEFA Europa League silverware on Thursday evening when they travel to the Czech Republic to take on Slavia Prague in their quarter-final first leg tie.
The competition is The Blues’ only remaining chance of silverware this season and they will be keen to record a positive result ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge next week.
Slavia Prague go into the match without key midfielder Tomas Soucek who is suspended. Winger Marko Alvir is struggling with a minor injury problem and will be assessed before kick-off.
Jakub Hromada, Muris Mesanovic and Stanislav Tecl continue to be sidelined with injury and will not be available for selection.
There are no new injury concerns for The Blues ahead of their trip to Prague. Manager Maurizio Sarri could keep faith with the side which beat West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening. The Italian has tended to rotate his squad in the UEFA Europa League this season but he could take the competition more seriously now that The Blues are just two rounds from the final.
Key men N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard have regularly been rested in the competition by manager Sarri this season but it remains to be seen whether they will be dropped from the starting XI again on Thursday evening.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 8pm and will be screened live on BT Sport 2.
