Chelsea have kept the heat on fourth placed Arsenal in the English Premier League table by beating Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 at Stamford Bridge this evening.

Olivier Giroud, Eden Hazard and Ruben Lotus-Cheek got the goals as The Blues eased to three points at The Bridge.

Chelsea started the match brightly but struggled to test visiting keeper Mat Ryan. Blues striker Giroud twice went close with headers but failed to get either effort on target.

Maurizio Sarri’s men finally got the breakthrough seven minutes before the break when youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi put a cross into the box and Giroud fired home from close range.

It was Hudson-Odoi who went close to doubling Chelsea’s lead after the interval but his close range effort was clawed from danger by Ryan. That chance proved to be a warning to The Seagulls as The Blues took the lead with their next attack. Loftus-Cheek played in Hazard and the Belgian made no mistake in slotting the ball into the corner of the net.

Three minutes later, the roles were reversed when Hazard gave the ball to Loftus-Cheek and he delivered a sweet strike which beat Ryan from distance.

Bernardo and Anthony Knockaert registered late efforts on goal for the visitors but Blues keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga remained largely untroubled as Chelsea recorded a 3-0 victory.

The South West Londoners are back in action on Monday evening when West Ham United are the visitors to Stamford Bridge.
