Chelsea Under-18s have fallen to a first home defeat of the season in the Under-18 Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion running out 1-0 winners at Cobham this morning.

Ben Wilson scored the only goal of the game for the visitors deep in second half stoppage time as Chelsea dropped rare points on home soil.

The game took some time to warm up with Jack Spong registering the first shot on target for the visitors half an hour in, an effort which was well saved by Blues keeper Jake Askew.

Marcel Lewis fired a shot into the side-netting for The Blues before Thierno Ballo struck an effort straight at Albion keeper Carl Rushworth.

Chelsea could have taken the lead on the verge of half-time but Armando Broja’s close range strike was superbly saved by Rushworth who had little time to think about getting his body in-front of the ball.

It was Brighton & Hove Albion who should have edged ahead early in the second half. Stefan Vukoje played in Danny Cashman but he was denied by an excellent save from Askew.

George Nunn and Broja then blasted shots over the bar for the home side before Pierre Ekwah Elimby saw an effort saved by the excellent Rushworth. It looked as though the sides would share the spoils until Wilson bundled in the winner for Albion with just seconds left.

Chelsea are back in action in a fortnight’s time when they travel to Norwich City in the Under-18 Premier League.
