Chelsea FC Women forward Fran Kirby netted a hat-trick as The Blues won 4-0 at Liverpool in the FA Women’s Super League this evening.

Finnish forward Adelina Engman was also on target for Emma Hayes’ side as they won easily on Merseyside.

Chelsea took a 16th-minute lead at Prenton Park with their first shot on target of the match. Striker Kirby advanced through the middle of the park before unleashing an impressive strike which flew beyond home keeper Anke Preuss into the net.

It was to be a special night for Kirby who won her side a penalty kick six minutes later when her shot was handled by a Liverpool defender. The forward picked herself up to successfully slot the ball home from 12 yards.

Erin Cuthbert was unlucky not to add to her side’s lead before the break when her header was superbly saved by Preuss.

Chelsea took a three-goal lead five minutes into the second half when Ramona Bachmann played in Kirby and the player curled her shot into the net despite the best efforts of Preuss.

Kirby was unlucky not to score her fourth when she directed an effort just wide of the post before Engman completed the scoring late on with a header.

Chelsea are back in action on Sunday when they travel to second tier club Durham in the SSE Women’s FA Cup.
