Chelsea FC Women will travel to the North East to take on FA Women’s Championship club Durham Women in the quarter-finals of this season’s SSE Women’s FA Cup.

The Blues defeated FA Women’s Super League title rivals Arsenal Women 3-0 at Kingsmeadow yesterday to secure their place in the last eight.

The draw for the next round took place this evening and it has now been revealed that Emma Hayes’ side will travel to New Ferens Park to face a Durham side who are very much unfamiliar to them.

The Wildcats won 2-0 at Bristol City Women in their last-16 tie and are a match for anyone on their day. Durham boss Lee Sanders is an expert at implementing defensive tactics while his side boasts plenty of attacking talent.

Durham have already taken four points from a ‘full-time’ Manchester United outfit in the FA Women’s Championship this season while they have beaten top flight club Everton in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

Prior to Chelsea’s last-16 victory over London rivals Arsenal, The Blues saw off Everton in the previous round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup. Hayes’ side are the current holders of the trophy after they defeated Arsenal 3-1 in last season’s final at Wembley.
