Chelsea FC Women are into the quarter-finals of this season’s SSE Women’s FA Cup after recording a routine 3-0 victory over Arsenal Women at Kingsmeadow this afternoon.

Beth England bagged a brace while Jonna Andersson was also on target for The Blues as they made easy work of an Arsenal outfit who have impressed this season.

Chelsea got off to the perfect start with Emma Hayes’ side breaking the deadlock after just five minutes. Erin Cuthbert drove towards goal with the ball before playing in teammate England to slam home the opener.

The visitors responded well and Katie McCabe’s shot had to be pushed onto the base of the post by Blues keeper Ann-Katrin Berger before Beth Mead fired an effort wide.

The Blues were to go into the break two goals to the good when Andersson rifled in a screamer from 20 yards six minutes before the interval.

Arsenal had a half-chance to get back in the game but Mead could only flick a tame effort at Berger. The Gunners were to rue that missed opportunity when England raced away moments later and slotted the ball beyond Pauline Peyraud-Magnin into the back of the net to make it 3-0 to The Blues.

Mead again went close for Arsenal but was denied by Berger before Fran Kirby failed to beat Peyraud-Magnin late on as the scoreline remained at 3-0.

Chelsea will now await the outcome of Monday’s quarter-final draw to determine their opponents in the next round.
