Chelsea will be hoping to reach the quarter-finals of this season’s Emirates FA Cup when they take on English Premier League rivals Manchester United in the fifth round on Monday evening.
The match is a re-run of last season’s final in which Chelsea were 1-0 winners at Wembley courtesy of Eden Hazard’s successful free-kick.
Chelsea go into the match on the back of a 2-1 away victory over Swedish club Malmo FF in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri could opt to recall Marcos Alonso, N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard to the starting XI after the trio were dropped for the club’s midweek European fixture. The former did not travel to Sweden while Kante and Hazard were introduced from the bench.
Midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is available for selection after recovering from a recent back injury while striker Olivier Giroud will hope that his goal against Malmo will have helped him retain his starting place.
Manchester United will travel to Stamford Bridge without at least four first team players. Defenders Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia continue to be ruled out through injury while attackers Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial can be added to that list. Interim boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer could call upon Alexis Sanchez to fill the void left by Martial, although former Blues favourite Juan Mata may also be considered.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 7.30pm and will be screened live on BBC One.
