Chelsea have returned to fourth place in the English Premier League table after beating Huddersfield Town 5-0 at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

There were braces for Gonzalo Higuain and Eden Hazard while David Luiz also got his name on the scoresheet for just the second time this season.

The Blues took the lead after just 16 minutes when Higuain netted his first Chelsea goal from close range.

To their credit, Huddersfield Town prevented Maurizio Sarri’s men from scoring their second goal until first half injury time. Elias Kachunga fouled Cesar Azpilicueta in the box and Hazard fired home the penalty kick which followed.

It was Hazard who made it 3-0 just after the hour mark when he squeezed the ball into the net from an acute angle before Higuain struck a spectacular fourth from outside of the box after Steve Mounie had gone close with a header at the other end.

Chelsea wrapped up the 5-0 win four minutes from the end when David Luiz got his head on the end of a corner kick and the ball took a wicked deflection off Kachunga before flying into the back of the net.

The Blues are back in action on Sunday 10 February when they travel to The Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City in the English Premier League.
